Confused: The State of Play with D.B.A?

And DBM. And DBMM.

Seriously, what edition are we on now and what version of the rules do most people currently play? It's been a long time since I played any iteration of the above rules other than Hordes of the Things. It's probably time I got back into my quick and easy 15mm historical gaming.

Can anyone offer any advice on which editions are current and what supplements are out there? I've been reading through some of the information on various websites for a while now and I'm throughly confused.

  1. HoTT 2nd Ed and DBA 2.2 are current, but both are out of print. DBA 3 is currently being play tested and due for publication sometime in the future. DBA 2.2+ is the (mostly US) fan written alternative to DBA 3.

I'm currently building a Cossack army for DBA RRR. A fan-written Renaissance / Pike and Shot 'add on' for DBA 2.2.

Is DBA(what ever variant) popular in Glasgow?

  2. I honestly don't know Matt. The club I attend (G3) tends towards non-historical wargames (with the exception of about a dozen of us who play just about every genre). On the other hand, there's another club who meet literally fifty yards away at the same time on a Tuesday night who are mostly historical gamers. I was thinking of paying them a visit one night if I couldn't drum up enough interest in HotT or DBA.

Thanks very much for the information. I know what to look out for now.

  3. DBA is famously (notoriously?) hard to read due to the language it's written in but some fans have written a great guide: http://www.wadbag.com/DBAGuide/

  5. It's terribly off-topic, but I've tagged you and your blog for a blog-chain I'm participating in. Fairly harmless, and it's quite alright if you choose not to participate. Below's just the run-down, and my part is, of course, on my blog.

    The Rules Are:
    1. You must post the rules.
    2. Post eleven fun facts about yourself on the blog post.
    3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged.
    4. Tag eleven bloggers, however, you can break the rules and tag fewer people if you want. Make sure you hyperlink their names/blogs.
    5. Let them know you've tagged them!
    6. Have fun!

Looking forward to your response, either way.

    Cheers!
